Becoming a Volunteer
The Makerspace is a volunteer-run non-profit with a big heart for connecting the Bellingham community and beyond. There are many ways you can join in building the Makerspace. While volunteering you can also acquire new skills, pass your knowledge on, develop connections, support our community, and have some fun.
How do I become a volunteer?
- Complete the volunteer application. - Schedule an interview with the Makerspace manager. - Get approved by the Makerspace manager. - Receive a volunteer login for the Makerspace website.
What are the volunteer requirements?
- Sign up for shifts through our online volunteer calendar. - Commitment to a regular schedule and/or availability to teach or mentor. - Completed required training for area/tool/expertise.
Volunteer status is pending until application is reviewed by the Makerspace manager and training is complete.
What are the volunteer benefits?
- Flexible roles with the ability to self schedule through our online calendar - Exclusive monthly social event to experience new tech and meet other volunteers - Each volunteer shift earns credit towards membership, tool access, or studio space - Volunteers can take free classes once a month to learn valuable tool skills - Recognition through recommendation letters or volunteer of the month awards - Meeting other creative and intelligent people and helping a wonderful community resource!
